What is a Full Cycle Engineer ?
Section titled “What is a Full Cycle Engineer ?”A Full Cycle Engineer is someone responsible for implementing a solution by working on it end to end. It draws inspiration from the concept of lean manufacturing. This approach allows for a better understanding of the needs behind a solution, and therefore leads to better project handling.
This profession doesn’t seem to be officially recognized yet. And perhaps it never will be, at least formally, in the job market. Why “officially”? Because it already exists — most notably under the title of CTO, for the rare individuals who have started a project and gotten practically involved in all aspects: from Development, to DevOps, to server administration for the deployed solution.
Of course, our fellow CTOs who have been involved in every stage aren’t experts in all those domains. But with the future and the improvements enabled by AI, perhaps we’re moving toward a growing need for this kind of role.
Other Indie Hackers also seem to be heading in this direction. Maybe you will too, in the future — if you want to build your own applications, be your own boss, with all the pros and cons that come with it.
A Future
Section titled “A Future”Time will tell.
Data is still forthcoming, but some job listings already mention this kind of role.
